Where it started
Good bones, thin reach.
Klondike Air had relaunched on Kadence a few months earlier, so this was not a platform change. The site had brand recognition and not much else: one keyword in the top ten, service pages sitting on page two and three with plenty of impressions, and the business just outside the local map pack.
The brief was a cleaner design in the style of the national HVAC leaders, an SEO push that would not disturb the map listing, and the header and navigation the owners already liked kept as they were.
What went into it
The work, item by item.
A full copy of the live site on our staging server, locked behind a password, with mail and heartbeat switched off so nothing leaked out during the build.
A baseline of every title, description, and page before any change, used as the checklist at every step.
Nine competitors studied, plus the company’s own Search Console and Ahrefs data, before a single design decision.
A homepage mockup approved through several rounds, then built natively with the title and heading identical to the live page, character for character.
A reusable service page template, rebuilt hubs and About page, nine existing city pages deepened with ten questions each, and seventeen new city pages.
Sweeps for language the company does not want: no 24/7 claims, no commercial work on a residential business, consistent review counts everywhere.
An accessibility pass that changed the colour palette. Zero contrast failures across twenty pages.
Launch into the client’s own SiteGround hosting: backups, file sync, database import, and every credential rotated afterward.
The result
Launched clean, measured next.
On launch day every one of 146 URLs returned correctly, the sitemap validated, and no trace of the staging site remained.
The site went from 131 pages in the sitemap to 145, with twenty-six city pages and structured FAQ data on one hundred of them.
The ranking comparison against the pre-launch baseline is scheduled for late September. We report results when they exist, not before.
Runs on: Kadence with the existing child theme, SEOPress, structured data, CRM forms kept exactly as they were, SiteGround hosting.
